August 8, 2001 (Sharon in for Nicki)
1. Fines. We now have the system account number for fines collected for non-UMFK books. Nicki asked that we be sure to write on the cash register slips: system fine. Replacement costs still go to the individual library. The name of the library should be on the register slip.
2. Ebsco Serials. Invoices from Ebsco are processed by the Serials Department (Georgine) and need to be forwarded to her and not Anne.
3. Inez Day Fund. We should use the fund to increase our holdings in the juvenile collection and the curriculum center, both of which need more information on music. Poetry could also be collected, particularly the teaching of poetry.
4. Sofia reported that the faculty handbook was nearing completion. She will be handing it around for corrections.
5. Sofia has the next agenda.
August 22, 2001 (Anne)
I. P-counter: We will start charging students and patrons for printing at the beginning of this semester. We discussed what the process on this should be but, we did not come up with the specific procedures since we don't know exactly how it will be working. The library staff will need to experiment and trained once the program is in place for the start of the semester. One thing we do know is that Nicki will be taking care of handling deposits from students and patrons.
II. Vending machine: We are still trying to figure out a way to help out students and minimize our cost and time by handing out certain items (paper clips, pens, pencils, post-it...etc) that are requested by students when working in the library. A few suggestions: if we could find a vending machine that would dispense those articles or have those articles ready for sale here at the library. Sharon will talk to Doug Beaulieu about this. To be continued.
III. Music lab: The new desks are in. Staff will need to know how to set them up with computers & keyboards in case of troubleshooting.
IV. Faculty handbook: Sofia is done with the faculty handbook. She showed us the end product which is very appropriately done for faculty to let them know what services are offered here at the library.
V. Orientation days: All of the library administrative staff will be very busy during those two days so Anne was asked to take charge at the library during that time. Leslie will try to find a work-study student to help out also.
VI. Weekends: It's that time of year again where we needed to plan who would be working on what weekends. Nicki will have a schedule in our Netscape calendar where we can refer to when needed.
VII. Update on work-study students: Leslie has 4 students lined up and some of them for the week nights but nothing definite yet for weekends. I have confidence in her that she'll get there before it's my turn again...!! Work-study students will be given handouts on rules and regulations of what is expected of them while they are working.
VIII. Campus retreat: Sofia and Leslie will be busy showing the faculty (which were strongly recommended to attend) the campus' new website which just came out, they will talk about accessibility, they will be showing the faculty all that we have to offer on-line. The faculty will be handed a folder with forms and handbooks.
IX. Mini lessons: The time for these lessons are coming fast and we suggested that we could publicize with posters in order to recruit as many people as possible.
Leslie will do next week's agenda.
Have a great week everyone!

1. Novell Accounts - Nicki explained that in cleaning up old records some accounts were deleted that may need to be recreated. Some discussion of community accounts and restriction settings.
2. Off Campus Internet Instruction - Nicki informed the group that students/faculty/staff no longer needed the Internet client CD to set-up Internet access from home. She clarified the need for us to inform students they need an active e-mail before they can connect off-campus.
3. Circulation Printing - Sharon is working with Dianne Belanger at III. We're going to try a different dot matrix printer.
4. Workstudy packet - Leslie still would like to get a packet together - so keep thinking about it.
5. Faculty workshop - Update on the faculty workshop.
6. Other - Sharon elaborated on President Zillman's letter which was sent out on the bond, encouraging our support.
Jim Killarney requested a quick tip sheet for citing resources in APA. Leslie said she'd get one together.
Nicki will put together the agenda for next week
