3. What to do with the table in the spec. collections room We need to find another place for it. There is not enough room in Special Collections. For now, it will go along the wall where a section of shelves used to be (near the cluster). Other options will be looked into. We certainly don't want to let the table leave the Library. That also brought up the issue of the empty video cabinets. The plan is to shift some videos to those cabinets. If that doesn't work, we may sell the cabinets and use that space for the table with a public terminal.
4. Others
Sharon reported that the architects, Port City, came to the library last week and took measurements and began examining the building.
She also spoke of the progress being made with the technology for Nadeau Hall. The RFP will be made soon.
We also spoke about the some of the computer upgrades that may happen this summer. A few library staff members are included in that upgrade.
a. The email system will go up in ISIS at some point, but it will still be awhile. In the meantime, Stephanie has already started putting in the email addresses using the Novell account forms.
b. There was a discrepency between the cash register and change box. Please make sure the change going out is accurate, and the change between the two drawers in accurate.
c. Holidays - Sofia will take May 24th holiday. Anne will take 4 hours vacation plus her regular 1/2 day off on Friday April 12th. Sharon will take a few hours here and there off. Georgine's last day will be the end of April due to vacation time saved up.
d. summer workstudy students - a new person was hired for serials. This does not effect the number of workstudy students we can have for summer. If we are aloted three, then we can hire three (deb, tanya, and ...)
e. workstudy student asked to leave - One workstudy student was asked to leave due to lack of responsibility (not showing up to work, not calling, etc.)

I. Vacuum cleaner: Because it's not in running order anymore and still on a warranty, we will be returning it and try to get our money back. We will look at other alternatives.
II. Annual report: Leslie wants us to take a close look at what comments or facts we need to add in each of our sections; to write down our goals, activities...etc. Look closely at sections II, IV, & V and make comments where appropriate.
III. Ursus: Sofia will go ahead and change it to "Find a book" and also change Indexes and Databases to "Find an article" so it's clearer for students and patrons to understand.
IV. Last two weekends to work: Sharon will be working on Sunday April, 28 and Sofia will be working on Sunday May 5, 2002. Summer hours will stay the same, i.e. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting May 13, 2002.
V. Had a good discussion about our presidential candidates. Everyone expressed personal opinions either criticisms or supportive comments.
Others:
- What to do about books in storage: a decision was made to bring those books back here at the library to look at them and decide if we should put some of them back on the shelves or discard.
- Stephanie voiced her concerns about a patron using a friend's library card to order ILL and owing a significant amount of money to some libraries. A decision was made to delete this patron's bar code so he cannot use the card anymore till the fines are paid. Options were also discussed to see what we could do to help out those patrons with fines on borrowed items from other libraries and at the same time help out the libraries involved.
- Stephanie mentioned that she is now set up to send out notices on overdue items to students and staff by e-mail instead of snail mail.

1. Air Conditioner - Sofia asked what the possibilities were of buying a small air conditioner for the library computer lab. She explained that the room gets unbearable. That if you're teaching a class you can open the door but if the lab is full we can't really leave the door opened with no supervision. Nicki pointed out that we get a lot of bugs from leaving the window open. Stephanie and Leslie agree that at times the room is really too hot. Sharon reminds us that the air conditioners we have gotten in the past do not work if it is below 50 degrees outside. Very often in the winter the room gets hot, so this may not be an option. Anne suggests a ceiling fan. Anne asks, "How about one in here, too?" Sharon said she would investigate solutions for the computer lab.
2. Headphones - Sofia requests that the library purchase headphones from the bookstore for patron check-out. Stephanie reminded us of the past. We use to have some for check-out but they didn't last. Stephanie suggest trying to buy adapters for the big headsets we currently own. The headsets look as if they would stand heavy use. Nicki will investigate adapters
3. Extensions on books borrowed through the requestor - Sofia and Stephanie have reviewed the system circulation policy. The manual states there is no extensions. There was some discussion about the desire to extend the loan period, implications of the changes on staff work, and on the service to students. The library staff agrees that no one will give any extensions or provide students with numbers to call other libraries to get an extension until Stephanie returns from the Circulation Heads meeting.
