June 2002 Meeting Minutes

June 3, 2002 (Nickie)

1. Book Sale - Sofia will make flyers to advertise that we will be selling some used books. Stephanie will contact the area librarians to ask if they might be interested in some of those books. They will get the first chance at the sale this Friday. UMFK faculty and staff will be allowed to come to the sale on Monday, and the sale will be open to the public on Tuesday. The sale should be complete by next Friday. We will ask for a $1.00 donation, but prices can be negotiated.

2. Sunday Hours - Leslie worked this past Sunday from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. There were 12 people starting after 3ish. Most wanted computers. And at 5:00 when she closed, there was no one in the building. We decided that it was not worth opening on the next few Sunday's. Nicki will post a sign that we will not be open on Sunday's and we will see if we get complaints.

3. Leslie announced that the System Librarian candidate seemed to be very good. She doesn't know if she was offered the position or not.

4. UMFK is hosting Elderhostel during the week of July 14 - 19. Don Eno requested that the participants have access to computers while they are on campus. Nicki will create one Novell account for the whole group and the Elderhostel program will reimburse us for what little printing they do.

5. Stephanie gave us an update on the HISLIC meeting. HISLIC will be writing a grant to purchase Ariel. The entire process may take until at least October before the grant application is submitted to NLM. Stephanie asked that we not wait that long to purchase it. Sharon stated that the money for it was budgeted but we should still try to get something from the grant money if we are eligible for it.

6. Sharon gave us an update on the new building. The architects understand that they need to know more about how we work together and how our space needs to be organized. We all agreed that we need to go ahead with some changes, and that we will get used to things eventually. We all seemed to feel that a compromise could be reached.
