August 2002 Meeting Minutes

August 26, 2002 (Stephanie)

1. Updating windows: Sharon would like library staff to be assigned to doing updates to their individual computers. Other machines such as the circ desk, ILL and the assistive learning station need to be assigned staff. Only windows 2000 and XP machines need to be updated. None of these are windows 2000 at this point, so we can make assignments later.

2. Office XP: All computer labs will have office XP except for the library computer lab. This means that the library staff needs to be prepared to provide technological support with compatibility issues.

3. Abatement: the latest word is that abatement monies may not be available until May 2003 at the earliest. This means that library staff needs to develop a plan to move the library based on this information. In addition, it will be wise to investigate the least expensive alternatives for this move. Measurements will be taken of the library and forwarded to Sharon so that she can get a quote from the moving company. The measurements will also be used to help plan the move at our local level.

4. Student Novell Accounts: All students will receive $1.00 at the beginning of the fall semester to activate their accounts. The rest of printing costs will come from the student themselves.

5. Student ID: Stephanie updated the group about the new procedure for getting patron images uploaded into milcirc.

6. New Copier: The new copier will be put in place of the old fax machine. The old fax will be donated to the Acadian Archives.

7. Welcome Back Brochure: Leslie is compiling a brochure and has requested that we each email her a bulleted list of the new happenings in our department. Please submit the list by August 27, 2002.

8. Email Troubles: Netscape email has been causing problems throughout campus. Sharon will investigate Microsoft Outlook as an alternative to Netscape.

9. Georgine's schedule: Georgine will be in on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
