February 2003 Meeting Minutes

February 4, 2003 (Stephanie)

  1. SMJ's weekend: After the terrible snow storm and being asked to leave early on Sunday; Sharon has asked the staff that with regard to weather conditions, we make careful decisions and use good judgment when working on nights and weekends. This means that bad weather, in some cases, might be cause for library closure.
  2. Building Plans: Due to some issues brought up by Physical Plant, the library staff has rearranged the stacks floor plan. There was discussion about where the circ desk will actually be temporarily placed, especially now that we have a new floor plan. Physical Plant is scheduled to come tour the library at 8:30am on February 5, 2003. Leslie says her impression from Lita, one of the architects is that actual demolition and/or construction of the building will not take place until after graduation.
  3. BPL wanting to request items that are already checked out to a patron. We are opposed to that. Sharon will email the directors (done).
  4. Beepers: Leslie will bring in Walkie Talkies for us to practice using. After a practice period, we will revisit this issue.
  5. A professor wanted materials on reserve, but we are unable to do this. Stephanie has emailed Vladimir to discuss this matter.
