November 21, 2002 (Stephanie)
1. Record Labels (Leslie)
Labels will be place on the top left hand corner of the record.
2. Saturday Extended Hours (Anne) At this point there is no change in library hours for Saturday. The staff will Consider changing the hours to 12 to 4 or 12:30 to 4:30 during the spring semester if the need arises. Stephanie will talk to Sarrah about sending students to talk to staff about changing library hours.
3. Maine Memory Network (smj) Rick Asum (spelling might be wrong) from UMPI has asked UMFK to contribute to the Maine Memory Network. UMFK has a choice about how to proceed. We can scan the photos and post them on the web or we can scan the photos and offer them for sale. The consensus is that we should contribute and that the best way might be on the web since we already have plans to do something of a similar nature for local purposes.
4. Acadian Materials Upstairs (smj) It is understood that Blake will gain the shelving upstairs that the archives circulating and reference materials sit on. It is also understood that the books will have to change location. This remains an open issue.
5. Overview of Floorplans Leslie will provide Camille a copy of the floorplans and moving plans.
6. ISIS Holds Stephanie will provide a set of documents for everyone to review. After some discussion at our next meeting, we will post what everyone has agreed to. We'd like to try this new process for collecting fines until after the summer session.
7. Borrowing Database Leslie, Sharon and Sofia will discuss this issue at a later date. Collection development statistics can be retrieved from URSUS, but they don't seem accurate. Stephanie will provide Sharon with instructions on how to retrieve the stats and then Sharon will ask Laura for help with these statistics.
November 26, 2002 (Nicki)
Candidates for the Vice President for Academic Affairs - position will be on campus on Monday December 2 at 11:00 am, on Friday December 6 at10:00 am, and on Monday December 9 at 11:00 am. We should all try to attend if we can. We have work-study coverage for all times.
Material Types - Sharon will write to Laura Gallucci to ask about the confusion with the Realia material type. (I don't know if I understand it much more than that - so fill in the blanks if you need to!)
Patron Files - Stephanie says that the names on the patron list really can't be deleted. They belong to one of three categories: - courtesy patrons that owe money - courtesy patrons that have materials checked out - courtesy patrons that have materials checked out and owe money
999 Powell Hall - this is not an ISIS problem, the address is correct in ISIS.
Staff Christmas Card - Neal is coming along nicely on this.
Reference Desk - We all agree that the reference desk needs to be redone. We will try to find get the money at some point to have a more appropriate setup. Sharon is meeting with the architects next Tuesday and will tell them that the library needs new furniture for the reference area, for the cataloging area and for the serials area.
Budgets - John Murphy has been asked by the system office to plan the budget now instead of in the spring. Sharon needs us to give her estimates of expected expenses (say that 3 times fast!).
Other - The Xerox Docuprint printer may go back to the students when the move happens. The new savin color printer/copier that we will be leasing will be inexpensive enough and fast enough for the downstairs library staff to use as a printer copier.
