July 2004 Meeting Minutes

July 28th, 2004 (Sharon)

1. Sofia's mailbox (lack of)
Sofia would like to wait until she has a desk elsewhere before setting up a mail station. She says she will find her mail.

2. Bottle Recycle Bin Placement
Leslie and Stephanie will keep an eye out for something appropriate locally.

3. Business office and Circulation Collaborative effort for fee collection
There was a lengthy discussion. Stephanie will send out the revised version of the effort. She and Sofia will continue to work on this issue. Sharon asked that they provide a flow chart.

4. Update on the doors in Powell (this is just if there truly is an update :-)
Sharon provided an explanation of the key and door locking plan for the library/Powell corridor.

5. Old cash register (how does it get recycled)
Sharon called John Murphy, and we are waiting for an answer.

6. Should we shred old documents that show what fees were waived?
Everyone felt these should be shredded, but that an analysis of just the bottom line of fees waived should be kept, i.e. a spreadsheet with just figures, no names.

Everyone thought giving the retired staff picture id’s was a good plan. Sharon was to take the issue to John Murphy’s meeting. [John Murphy said we should design a new badge that designated the wearer as a retiree. The cost would be $5.00 whether we paid it or we asked the retiree to pay.]

9. Opinion poll for web site (2 questions each) -template for minutes
Sofia asked each department to give her 2 questions for a survey and feels that will be sufficient for several months. Sharon suggested that we pay attention to “outcomes” for statistical purposes.
