2. The Nikon slide scanner is jamming and ruining slides. Nicki will delete the icon for the scanner on the scanner computer. Sharon will bring in slides to test. A possible solution to the dilemma is to purchase a newer scanner. Suggestions include putting the scanning station on the network so that students can use the H drive and can print. The station needs Acrobat and OCR. Sharon noted that there would be licenses available if Allen Shoaff’s ICDF application gets funded.
3. Fine limit. Stephanie proposed that we change the maximum amount of fines owed before patrons are stopped from borrowing. She suggested that we change the maximum to $1.00. It is hoped that this will eliminate the need of K-blocks being placed. Stephanie will e-mail the particulars, and Sharon will get in touch with Laura.
4. Public patrons can place holds on requestor items even if they have 10 items checked out, the maximum for their patron type. Our practice has been to check out the extra items when they come in, overriding the record, thus allowing the public or school patron to check out more than 10 items. Staff determined that this was an appropriate procedure and should be left alone.
5. Sharon asked if we had information about Blake Library’s use of the databases. Sofia reported that she had a spreadsheet of Ebsco databases. She will send it to Sharon who will send it on to Tom Abbott.
6. Sharon reported on the Library Directors’ meeting.
7. Nicki suggested that we needed to schedule training for the Xerox printer. She will try to schedule for November 9 at 9:30 AM.
8. Sofia has arranged to acquire a sample of a keyboard cover to help control cleanliness and germs. We will determine if it would be good to purchase for staff.
