Library Staff Meeting Minutes - August 24, 2008

Exams for Praxis? Sofia will contact Priscilla Daigle and Bruno Hicks about our staying open later on the Friday before the exams dated September 12 and November 14. We wills stay open until 9pm.

We are using the same open/closed/shortened day schedule this year as we did last year. The following is the list:

Vacatiions/Holidays/Days away:

Sofia will find out when Nursing testing is during finals. Will also find out who else may need us during finals.

Everyone is ready with resetting accounts, etc. Sofia still needs to show staff how to create their own ebscohost account. Sofia explained the process for helping someone who can't remember their password.

Leslie believes the demand for help we usually provid with regard to computer and email accounts may be well down this semester due to orientation.

THe new A100 testing lab will not have any classes scheduled in there this fall. This means there hopefully will not be any overflow into the library lab.

The curriculum manipulatives may be out of date, and are underused. Sofia will ask Doris what new manipulatives we could use. She will also look at the older materials to see what should be discarded.

Sofia reminded everyone what the password is to the reference stations and the multimedia station. K-12 patrons can use the multimedia station to work on assignments, but are still now allowed in the lab. Early College students who have the Bengal Badge can use the lab.

Leslie is going to check with Arthur to see if kids accounts can be automatically disabled overnight. This is to avoid library staff from having to either remember who was on the computer during the day and disable them, or ask the patrons as they are leaving. K-12 kids can only be on the computer with a parent or guardian.

Leslie suggested a link to the portfolio site on the newsletter sidebar.
