Spring Hours & Weekends

December 25 & Jan. 5-testing dates for nursing students-need to find out if it is worth staying open for them to study-Leslie will try to get in touch with professors

POLICY FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IN THE LIBRARY - Due to the problem we had last week or the week before in the library it is important for us to all be on the same page. Procedure will be posted on the library page soon. Until then if something should arise:

  1. Report all problems IMMEDIATELY to Sofia or Leslie. If either of them are not around when an issue arises call them at home.
  2. Get the person’s name.
  3. Pornography is illegal and is not allowed.
  4. Patrons are not to turn their monitors.
  5. Policy states patron will lose their account.
  6. Do not let patron log off so Leslie can check the history.

DAIGLE CONFERENCE ROOM - Available for students to use with the understanding that if there is a conference scheduled they may not use it. On Sofia’s computer the program to check if there is a conference scheduled is EMS light. If students or anyone wants to reserve Daigle Conference Room it needs to be done through Fran Picard.

Extended December Hours

Sofia will verify with Scott Voisine that students know about the extended hours.

Leslie shared a few things discussed at her meetings:

  1. World Cat Local-Demo site-it is different than World Cat-Good idea for Deb, Asita & Brenda to check out this new product and what it offers-worldcat.org
  2. Last copy center-building purchased by Bangor Public Library-not sure if we will be joining in because of the cost and it really would not benefit UMFK
  3. Chat & IM-relooking at DocuTek-Good for distance learning-Sofia uses MEBO.
  4. HECCP PDQ-advised everyone to take the time to complete document-use strong verbs
  5. If anyone has anything they want Leslie to bring up at a meeting please let her know.
  6. Semester Loan request-Farmington might do a pilot program to open up loan requests for longer periods of time for honors students.
  7. Serials Solutions 360-Brenda & Katie should look at-new product
  8. In sourcing-we want to catalog our own materials and not have someone from another University to catalog our materials. There is talk about sharing a cataloger for the system.
  9. Courier Service-there is talk about discontinuing this service.
  10. Audio books from the Maine Infonet Downloadable Project($200) will not be up and running in December.

SUGGESTIONS:

  1. Talked about bringing a TV in Daigle Conference Room to have another station to view DVD’s and videos with more than 1 person(nursing students)
  2. Some nursing students asked for lockers maybe in the vending machine area to keep their big nursing books instead of having to carry them back and forth.
