January 2008 Meeting Minutes
January 15, 2009 (Asita)
- Policy & Procedure for Computer Usage: Leslie stated that the policy is okay, but we needed to discuss the procedure part concerning who to contact when an computer issue arises. We discussed the possibility of not allowing community patrons computer access, putting some computers near the reference desk to monitor community patrons. Katie suggested the idea of community patrons not being able to log-on computers after 6 pm. We decided to stay with the current policy and procedure, and if an issue arises we would contact in the following order: Leslie, Sofia, Dick Bouchard, and Tamara Mitchell.
- Crisis Management: Leslie discussed how her meetings brought up that because the library is open odd hours, it might be a good idea for those staff willing to undergo CPR training, RA training, etc. In the past a patron has had seizures in the library.
- Discussed adding signage to the computer lab alerting patrons that monitors cannot be turned.
- The old broken scanner in the lab needs to be removed.
- The Powell renovations continue, the plans include 10 faculty offices, 2 classrooms, and a testing language lab with 4 computers.
- Discussed the use of our space by outside groups/organizations. Sofia mentioned a recruiter wanting to use the library to meet with people. Leslie stated that outside people can’t reserve the quiet room. If no one has reserved or is using the quiet room, it is okay to let them use it, with the understanding that they can be asked to leave if a student, staff or faculty wants to use the room. Any campus group or faculty/staff can reserve the Daigle room, but they need to contact Fran Picard.
- Laptops for faculty to check out: 5 iBook laptops are available to check-out, we have to check them out and change the due date (4 weeks check-out, no renewals).
- Radio Canada records: Katie still hasn’t heard back from them regarding our records, and neither her or Brenda could find any additional contact information. Leslie will see what she can find out in order to get this question answered.
- Omnipage Pro is on the multimedia computer by the reference desk.
