January 2010 Meeting Minutes

- Firefox printing issues-Use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome or revert Firefox back to 2. Version
- Leslie will try to send updates with V Pass meetings every other week, Emergency meeting next week and EMPAC next week.
- Jeff Plourde will be taking over Camille’s position-he will have a 6 month trial
- Dick Bouchard’s position will be posted soon
- Financial Aid director position is down to the final talks-Committee is encouraged with the Candidates.
- Presidential Candidates-down to 5-Leslie is strongly encouraging us to attend all the informational meetings
- Katie and Leslie will try to meet with John Martin on Saturday to get him to sign the paper for the project.
- ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP-what do we do in the library to do our part?
- Save paper by e-mailing also by using the other side of used paper,
- reuse envelopes for campus mail, save paper covers from books,
- recycle paper to print requestor papers,
- recycle books,
- reuse plastic cases,
- save used boxes, binders, folders and bubble wrap,
- use discarded card catalog cards,
- reuse colored paper that comes with Maine Docs,
- library staff may use ECO font(uses less ink to print), (added by Sofia:
it is called "spranq eco sans" and can be downloaded free at www.ecofont.eu/ecofont_en.html)
- encourage students to duplex to use less paper or even scan if they do
not need a hard copy.
- EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING-what do we do in the library and what would we like to do?
- Help students activate e-mails(have students sit down and talk them through the steps),
- Will do sessions with faculty/staff,
- work study students could evaluate their supervisor to help make suggestions,
- Michelle is working on a self-evaluation by work study students(maybe at the beginning they could share what they expect out of this job and at the end of the semester could share what they learned or got out of their position),
- look at how do we get people in the library and how do we use our space, possibly involve education students to do programs in the library, possibly plan a snack night.
- COMMITTEES-everyone is encouraged to join a committee and be involved on campus.
- Anyone putting on a show in the exhibit area that wants to have food needs to go through ARAMARK.

- We will be closed Feb. 14 & March 28 and have shortened hours (no library
staff) Feb. 21, & April
4 for winter and spring breaks (edited by Sofia)
- April Praxis Dates-extended hours are already posted-We do not have extended hours for the February Praxis unless people ask we might.
- Sofia’s printer defaulted to single-sided-remember to change when printing.
- The new printer at the circulation desk-tap the paper feed –do not hold it down
- Ask physical plant to put air stoppers along entrance doors-cold air coming in
- Trying to get circulation counter fixed-it is cracked-would also like to put a rubber flap at the circulation drop off box instead of a wooden one.
- Brenda has labeled the basement and printed a list of holdings and where they are located(e-mailed to everyone last week) Back room still needs to be labeled but waiting to make sure nothing needs to be moved first.
