Old front door - all want open. John has asked for quote.
Labor day weekend – closed.
Work Study issues – Leslie will work first open weekend to cover work study time slots if necessary. Deb will train new students to get them ready to work the weekend (hopefully by the first open weekend). She will also see about getting more experienced work study to fill in once or twice as needed.
Pictures of work study students need to go up on web for staff. Sofia will try putting them on the staff page rather than in the internal library page.
Only seven previous work study students coming back. We are full though due to slots filled in by new students.
Retention and Housing – share what we hear from students in the library regarding reasons for leaving and/or why some might not want to stay in dorms.
One idea brought up in meeting was commuter housing.
Vending machine accessibility – Staff leaving at 9pm will lock only the glass doors going out from the Archives/Powell entrance. We will continue to lock the classroom and polycom room. Work study leaving at 11pm will lock the Archives and Powell doors.
The 9-11pm and weekend work study students will count people going to the back area. This will hopefully give us an idea how many people actually go to the back area.
Coffee – For the first couple of weeks we will offer coffee from 5-9pm during the week. Once our work study students have had a chance to get cash management training (need to contact Leslie Nichols), we will open up coffee 9-11pm during the week and on weekends.
We will keep a lockbox in the circ area with some change in it.
we cannot give coffee away. Some method needs to be used to monitor the supplies.
coffee will be sold for $1 even.
extra cups and lids will be stored in the server room.
need to create signs for the coffee area
Sunday hours – already in calendar who works.
Campus Staff – Some faculty have left, Roland Caron is now division chair for Education, some faculty are taking sabbaticals this year, Paul Grant is now Director of Student Teaching.
Pay Phone – The phone in Cyr hall that looks like a pay phone is not. However, it can dial off campus for local calls and may be able to take a calling card (not sure though). There may still be a pay phone in the gym by the vending machines.
Maine Infonet Conference – People discussed getting a bond for the courier system. This may not be likely because bonds are a one time pay out whereas the courier is ongoing. However, changing our opac from Triple I to an open access system such as Evergreen may be a good idea for a bond.
also discussed Kindles and the copyright issue not allowing libraries to loan out a book on a Kindle.
Director's meeting - Discussed long term goal of changing the opac to evergreen. Short term trying to get Summon.
Display cases – the old ones are going away. We will try to get a new one from a donation source such as the student senate. Sofia needs to nail down the exact case and cost.
When not using the case in the exhibit space, it can be put by the special collections room and used to exhibit either a permanent collection or individual collections we want to highlight. Do not want to use it for Archives - need to highlight university stuff.
Killarney Binders – We can remove them from reserves.
Framed posters - We want to start putting posters and artwork in frames. We can find specific spots for the frames and as long as we get standard frame sizes we can update posters every few years, or when ever we want to.
Fall headcounts from Don – Ask Don Raymond for fall headcount and fte counts after October 15.
Dr. Hess meets with library – Dr. Hess would like to meet with the library staff. We will include Archives and Pat from DE.
Katie does minutes next
