Allagash books: Three titles the library is looking to purchase: A is for Allagash, Allagash Tales vol. 3, Christmas in Allagash.
Marketplace: Most Blake Library vendors will most likely not appear as vendors in the new system. Asita and Leslie will work with the non-cataloged form to create vendor listing to meet the library’s needs. Once a vendor is added using this form, the vendor should remain in the system. We will know more once the system is in place and has been used.
Extended hours in December: Hours are extended this Saturday (12/4) and next Friday (12/10) (sofia: also Saturday 12/11). Sofia will send a reminder email to faculty, staff and students.
Library Wish List: Asita had presented the idea of the library making available to patrons a list of titles that the library hopes to add. Not with the idea of soliciting donations, this list would aide those patrons who desire to make a donation to the library but are unsure what would be appropriate. Leslie had forwarded the idea to John Murphy and plans to follow up with him on whether this would be a feasible/appropriate venture.
Library facilities update: While re-opening the front door is still a priority, a new roof has become a more urgent matter. Leslie is looking into resources for this. Also, the library will be acquiring new window coverings.
Headphones: Two pair of the regular patron-use headphones recently broke. Library can replace.
Cell phone use in the library: Leslie mentioned that there has been campus discussion on the desire to eliminate the use of cell phones in the classroom. The library may also adjust its regulations on cell phone use.
Wireless printing on campus: We’re close. IT hopes to provide access to both wireless printing and to program specific databases and computer programs, such as in the nursing department, which would lessen students’ needs to use specific computer labs on campus. This may be tested using the nursing department in the spring. Wireless printing capabilities may lead to additional printers added on campus, such as in the Bengals’ Lair.
Christmas treats: Staff will bring in treats for the work-study students next week (the week before Finals Week). The schedule is as follows: Leslie-Monday; Sofia-Tuesday; Asita-Monday or Tuesday; Deb-Wednesday; Katie-Thursday; Brenda-Thursday or Friday. We would like to also prepare a plate of treats to bring to facilities as thanks for their hard work this semester.
Biathlon: Athletes will stay in Powell for 4 days. They will most likely use the library, which will provide computer access.
Sundays: The Sundays schedule for spring has been set.
Note on 12/27: Deb will be out on Monday, 12/27. Brenda will be working and will watch for the courier, as well as for the art exhibitor who will be setting up that day.
Minutes next meeting: Brenda
