Memorial day - Closed
Extended Hours? - No. If faculty and or students ask about extended hours get the following information from them: online class or on campus class, why need library (resources, space, computers, etc.), what days and times?
Remind students about proximity card use for first three weeks of summer session.
Accounts payable process - 1. Check GL monthly, 2. everything that vendor sees comes from one address so causes some problems, 3. Curious if fewer mistakes will happen (at system or vendor level) now that all got to Jeanita.
Threatening situation on campus - 1. SJVT article not correct, 2. need to update student manual to include panic button, 3. we discussed feeling the need for weekend people to know what is going on, 4. Leslie will bring concerns to cabinet.
Outside help for books/fine retrieval - 1. we should still have access to place and remove $100 plus fines on student accounts, 2. We need to start January 1 of each spring semester to get a list of seniors together who owe fees and/or replacement fines (who need to return books) and get the list to ??? Leslie will find out what procedure we need to follow. The idea is the seniors' diplomas will be held until fines/fees are paid and/or books returned. 3. All community patrons who owe money need to have access to computers disabled until fines are paid, 4. Leslie will talk to directors to see if we can set in motion having the database system go the next step which is to be able to recognize when students have fees/fines and not allow access.
Spin Magazine - we will get it and start it with renewal list
Natural History Magazine - in suspension again for the second time within short amount of time. Need to consider dropping when we get our ebsco list.
Work Study students can check out ibooks - work study students are able to go into the ibook cabinet and check out ibooks to patrons. this saves time for staff.
Ipads - Still up in the air. Will be updating music lab with Macs to double as a place for education students to work as well.
hard to open doors - can knobs be replaced by handles? Leslie will look into it.
Can students use empty classrooms? - Students can use classrooms to study, etc. as long as they understand that if someone comes in to use the room (who has it booked), they must leave.
Annual Report - there is a new format, but we will continue as we have. Leslie will use new format. We need to read the strategic plan again to be familiar with it. Need to give Leslie a bulleted list of things that happened in our areas across the year, things that match the strategic plan.
Ill procedures and forms for DE - all ok on library web site
Polycom room - Sofia will ask Don O. to give us an overview of how the new system works. Need to have 800 phone number and ip address put back up as well as a campus directory put back in the room.
Drop box for videos and DVD's - have suggestions in place if we ever have the chance to spend money on something like this. Ideas at meeting were to make they foyer of the old entrance a place to drop items (would still need a secure method of dropping off). This would only happen once the door is opened back up again.Routing - 1. in the past we didn't route in the summer because we didn't have staff. When Brenda first came we had staff so offered routing. Now we have no staff again so can forgo routing during summer, 2. need to hold new issue until old issue(s) get returned by fac/staff, 3. Katie will look into seeing if titles are online that faculty want routed to them then send them an email asking if they want Sofia to show them how to use my ebsco (assuming title can be retrieved from and ebsco product).
Move out day - it was suggested in the meeting that during move out day, we could set up a table outside the dorms to facilitate the return of library items (trying to avoid people dropping dvd's and equipment in drop off box).
Tools - used tools now in gray cabinet. don't let others know, we don't want them to disappear.
People leaving - we discussed various people leaving for one reason or another (retirement, grant ending, etc).
"Made in Maine: a state report on public higher education" - system received an F, what is the thinking in admin? 1. No institution in the United States has passed yet, 2. we don't know where the group who did the report got their information/stats. they did not talk to anyone on campus.
Hslic newsletter - sending them roof, website new look, hired three nursing staff.
OneStop - people moving: 1. Ray Phinney, Lisa Roy, Kate Fecinta to healthcare clinic, 2. Financial aid and business to GIS Lab.
Gym upkeep people moving - 1. Lucas to Haenssler , 2. Bradly ??, 3. Cardio room moving to storage area in corner of gym, 4. weight room still ok.
Library roof - replacement of room begins Thursday, May 12, 2011. It will be the old part of the library that gets replaced. signs will go up to let patrons know (because of possible noise).
