Survey results – Sofia reported 93 patrons responded to the “name the new (old front) entrance” survey with the majority, 52, selecting Bell Tower entrance. Pending VPass approval, this will be the name of the entrance. The “other” main entrance will be referred to as the Quad entrance. Discussion followed regarding the challenges the Bell Tower entrance presents. The following procedures were decided upon:
Reclamation project – Les discussed the reclamation project in which 2 campus and some public libraries are participating. She is not completely sold on the idea as all it would do for us is remove items we have deleted from our collection but not include new acquisitions, thereby not be a true reflection of our collection. It was concluded for now, we will go ahead and remove deleted items but Les will explore cost comparisons of OCLC vs Catexpress and see what best serves our needs.
Clio – The new circulation computer is unable to download the Clio program for ILL data gathering. It was decided as long as we are careful about collecting pertinent and required information, a spread sheet can be designed which will serve the same purpose. Sofia already created a sample spreadsheet. Deb can modify it as she sees fit.
JStore - No feedback was received from Brad Ritz regarding JStore resources. Les is ready to invest in JStore as long as she sees the campus will make use of the resource.
Geneology – Ancestry Library is now available in our database selection. The addition was received with much enthusiasm. It was recommended all staff look at the database as this is a likely resource for weekend and community visitors as well as the student population.
Book donations – A good sized collection of books was donated by Priscilla Daigle due to the closing of her local store. Katie said the collection will enable her to redirect funds from literature into other areas, such as history, for purchasing this year. For the first time, an electronic letter of thanks will be sent for the donation.
Jim Killarney collection, Alumni collection – Collections include material goods such as a coat and furniture. The need for a conversation regarding policy, cataloging and location of materials was expressed. Les will touch base with Pres. Hess about both collections.
Archives Tool Kit – Archives Tool Kit is merging with Archon. It was discussed whether or not we should upgrade or wait. Maybe look at Archon.
Fiddlehead Focus - A donation letter is needed. Leslie, Katie, Andrew, Sofia and Josh will meet to finalize donation.
Nursing collection – Katie reported the nursing collection left to us by departing nursing faculty Diana White has found a home at Children’s Hospital of Boston.
MaineStreet - Back up approver suggested but not necessary.
Bell - Archives investigating.
