Acadian Archives Campus guide – Asita noted guides need updating. This should go to Lise at the AA.
Serials renewal – Asita raised the question if we should allow renewals on serials. These are on-the-fly records with no specific loan rules. As long as no one is waiting to use the issue, we can renew.
DVD growth – Deb said patron viewing side of the dvd cabinet is getting close to full. As the NCLEX series is scheduled for streaming this fall, room can be made by removing these covers. Begin with discarding the 2005 edition, and give these to University of Muncton, Edmundston nursing program. Put the 2008 and 2010 editions into the reserves area to create more space. Think about ways to accommodate future growth.
YA growth – Deb said the YA section is running out of growth room. We no longer subscribe to Junior Library Guild which is the source of many of our new additions so growth will slow down. Sofia will weed the section.
Disk cleaner malfunctioning. The disk no longer turns in the machine as the spray is being applied. Sofia recommends not reinvesting. We have gone through 2 machines. We’ll look into the hand cleaner (Steve mentioned he has one) and see how this works.
We will each bring a treat for Monday, Aug. 31, the first day of classes.
New furniture – Twenty new chairs have been ordered. Sofia has two design options for other new furniture. One is a table cluster, the other a ‘booth’ set up. She will take a student poll to see what students favor.
NYT storage cabinets have been moved from the lab printer room to the open quiet area exposing a badly damaged wall. Will have custodians move the empty book case into the room to cover the wall. Custodial staff will clean the floor. Eventually new 3-D printer will be placed in the room.
Tech services making plans for rearranging the office setting and finding long forgotten miscellaneous items as they clean out. Bring old printer cartridges to Nicki, see if they can be used elsewhere. Some things can be put in the campus garage sale. Brenda and Asita can look at furniture in storage to see if they can use anything.
Leslie will work with Asita to try and find a more efficiently way in Sierra to break down the collection by material type for the Annual Report. Current process is very cumbersome says Asita.
Foul writing on a board was found by a student in the handicapped accessible restroom. The stacks copy of the Qur’an was recently discovered with foul messages written the fore and top edges. Keep an eye out for further damages.
Be sure to register your cars. Online form is simple and quick. Staff parking will be in the upper lot; the lower lot will be for students only.
New computers are on their way for Cyr Hall. All hands may be needed when they arrive. It’s a crunch.
Sofia working on focus on faculty. All materials presented, not just published materials, should be included.
Be certain any pdf’s used are accessible. Scanned pdf’s for course documents need to be checked for accessibility. Review the library mission statement, see if it holds true. Les wants the statement up in the library.
Sofia discussed the procurement procedure for the discovery service.
Upcoming campus meeting will focus on the one campus indicative. It should eliminate competition between campuses, complicated transferring of credits and billing processes. Les not sure how it will impact libraries. She will be on the road the next two years working with implementation.
Evening and Sunday schedules for the semester are set.
