1. Who do workstudy call?
Discussed who workstudy should call and what order during evenings and on weekends when staff are not available. Leslie says it depends on the situation, if it can be resolved over the phone, or if someone needs to come in to the library. If someone needs help with a Blackboard question, have them email Leslie. Leslie says order is: Leslie, Sofia, Asita, Deb, Brenda.
2. Old Newsletters with bad information
Sofia explained that Pete had brought to her attention that old newsletters with outdated information shows up when someone does a website search. How do we fix this? Leslie says to archive and/or password it (in case you need to go back). Sofia will talk to Steve about archiving all but last year. Leslie recommended it be the current academic year.
3. Summon
Sofia had asked us all to look at the additional features in Summon/One Search and compare to URSUS, she needs feedback. Summon has new features that include library thing, reviews, etc. Briefly discussed our preferences. Please try it out more and send Sofia feedback.
4. Leslie – campus news/updates
Leslie shared that for the Presidential search the finalist should be announced in January. VPAA search is progressing. Position management work is being done to look at positions that are vacant or need to be filled. Search for Roger Roy’s position, and facilities position. Chemistry position is up for debate due to change in Nursing program requirements. Other positions brought up were Public Relations, and a Tradesperson. The 1/2 time position of Katie's job that dealt with the Archives remains on the list.
Sofia’s concerned about overloading new faculty and causing burnout.
Leslie also met with Tammy to talk about workstudy process, and having one tool to track workstudy earnings. Deb said she met with Tammy and others to discuss ways to streamline workstudy process. Leslie will ask Tammy for an update about the workstudy process soon.
Discussion then led to workstudy coverage. Deb suggested we could have workstudy not cover 8am-10am to free up for more important times/days. Sofia threw out the unpopular idea of staff working 4 hours each day of a weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and getting a full day off Friday. Leslie would like us to try another semester with workstudy to see how it goes. Recommended we change opening on Sunday from 10:30am to 11am with some discussion about Saturday, as that’s when most people arrive.
5. Sundays for Spring Semester
Assigned Sundays for staff to work for Spring 2016 semester.
