Collection development fund allotment: Les said we need to finalize the spending then have a closer look at the remaining funds distribution.
Using Gdrive:
1. Everyone should begin moving stored documents off the Xdrive to Gdrive. From now on all AR documents should be shared in Gdrive.
2. Hdrive is going away. Should no longer be available by the end of the year. Stored documents should be backed up on a thumb drive or moved to Gdrive.
3. New community patrons do not have Hdrive access. Let patrons know they should save to a thumb drive or Gdrive. Let regular community patrons know to retrieve documents from the Hdrive.
4. Returning students will receive a notice to remove documents from the Hdrive. We should remind them as well. Send them to IT if they cannot find their documents.
5. Put new signs around the library informing patrons to save to a thumb drive or Gdrive. Nicki will make adjustments to the print agreement. IT will change the computer agreement.
911 calls from lab: Sofia noted continued problems with someone misdialing in the lab and accidentally dialing 911. She suggested changing the call out number. Les said this is an emergency management issue which is being looked into system wide. For now it needs to remain as is. Make sure everyone knows, if they call 911, to identify the library as the building in need of help.
Student ID cards: Student services will no longer deliver student ID’s to the library for student pick up. It will be up to the student to bring their card to the library at which time staff will insert the barcode number into the student record. Library number is needed only to request items/materials as portal entry gives access to databases. Library card activation will be incorporated into the FYE scavenger hunt activities. (Les will talk to Ellia.) Though it is not essential, staff appreciates the usefulness of the photo in the student record. Les will work on getting a list of new students or having a dumb of the names to so we can continue to use the photo feature. UMFK is the only campus which uses the photo feature.
RefWorks is changing: moving to a new version. The legacy and new version will be available simultaneously. New version goes live in Jan. Only 9 users registered with the old version. May reevaluate the usefulness of the tool after a year if usage remains this low.
Journals: Changing from print to online access with some journals. Usage restrictions apply to the number of patrons allowed to view at the same time. Looking for kinder message informing the patron the journal is in use, to check back later. Current text is too abrasive and confusing.
Ask Brittany about the GIS lab key. A new system has been devised at the lab and may not need to have a key at the library.
Campus update:
1. Looking to fill Ray’s position (student affairs) through the registry system. Position may be split between UMPI and UMFK. Will decide by spring.
2. Marketing position advertised. Business professor search to begin again in fall.
3. Kristen is out for the fall perhaps into the spring semester as well.
4. Kim and Kurt are back filling their positions.
Sunday work schedules sorted.
Library will be open Monday, Sept.5, Labor Day, 1-9. Have work study coverage, especially 5-9. Les will work 1-5.
