1. VETERANS DAY- We are open-no classes on this day-Jacob will work the whole day (8-8). Asita is working and Leslie will be here and can come downstairs if needed. (update: Leslie worked all day in the library giving Sofia and Asita the full vacation day).
2. After December 1- How will holidays be handled after December 1 according to FLSA? Answer: Straight time holiday (starred holidays are time and a half or double time(??) after December) will have to take a day off during the week. You have to get your supervisor's approval before you work overtime. If you have to stay later on your evening you have the rest of the week that you may leave earlier one day.
3. WORKSHOPS- Library is continuing to host workshops for the GIMP 2-D program (comparable to Adobe photoshop) GIMP Part 1 this week, part 2 next week. In the spring we will make this available to the community.
4. MAPS- Asita has maps on the microfilm cabinets in the back serials room. The corners are curling up-need space to be able to view. Need a piece of plywood under the maps (Les will look if she has something at home)
5. BENGAL TIGERS NAME CHANGE- before Bengal Tigers the name used to be Acadians. Sofia has been trying to pinpoint why name was changed. In the 1962 newsletter mention of Benny Bengal Tiger. 1962 October Tattler-Bengal Tiger Official Mascot-maybe we could put add in Fiddlehead Focus to see if anyone knows anything?
6. DIAPER CHANGING STATIONS IN RESTROOMS- Diaper Changing Stations have been added to both Men’s and Women’s Restrooms-Icon is located outside of each restroom.
7. Patron - has been notified he can no longer sleep on campus. Deb has spoken to him today and has asked him not to reshelve the books. Evening work study students should do walk arounds every half hour and check bathrooms at closing time.
8. ARTWORK BY MICHELLE RICHARDSON- Michelle has offered to make a tile artwork to go on wall behind Sofia’s desk. Library staff agreed to have abstract art work. Sofia can apply for foundation grant to cover for materials.
9. HARRIMAN- doing study on spaces on campus.
10. VENDING MACHINES- The vending machines in Powell are gone. Library is opened the longest hours including weekends-we need something for students-Pam suggested we do self-service-students have asked for healthier food
11. FLOATING COLLECTION-Les asked how this is working. Deb said our overall borrowing is way down. We don’t have a lot from other libraries coming in.
12. EBRARY-Les tried during the night and it was not working.
13. UPDATE ON ID CARDS-Deb did not get list from Mark-got list from Pete. New Card # is only for food. Wait until next summer for??–new staff will settle into their new roles in Student Services.
