For the past three years, the University of Maine at Fort Kent Foundation has been conducting a $3 million campaign. La Cloche de Fer campaign’s original goal was to double the Foundation’s scholarship endowment; provide the University’s committed faculty with the necessary resources to teach the next generation of students; and to introduce alternative energy – biomass – to the University campus. Wonderful progress was made thanks to the efforts of alumni, friends, and businesses.
The mission was launched using La Cloche de Fer as an iconic symbol for the campaign. The historic bell has been displayed on campus and at special events as a promotional tool. The campaign came to a close in March 2014, having exceeded its original goals.
To honor of this accomplishment, the UMFK Foundation Board is planning a final home for La Cloche de Fer. It will be placed on permanent display for the campus and the community in a gazebo-style structure, on a site located between Cyr Hall and the Blake Library.
You are invited to become part of the historic homecoming campaign for La Cloche de Fer campaign here at UMFK through the purchase of an engraved paver. This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to advertise their support for the University, or for individuals to remember friends or loved ones. The pavers will be permanently installed around the gazebo, and will be visible to all visitors to campus. Engraving is included in the price of the paver.
